Distribution & Narrative System
Drops — a content distribution and narrative system for XJ music. A coordinated publishing pipeline that translated a technically novel adaptive music engine into tangible creative experiences people could watch, share, and remember across YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and the web.
What we did
Built the entire Drops system: designed the release framework, produced each entry (combining engine-generated music, visual identity, artwork, and contextual framing), adapted content per platform, and managed cross-channel distribution. Each Drop functioned simultaneously as a content release, product demo, and branding vehicle.
Proof
- Archive: xjmusic.com/drops — the full release archive
- Platforms: YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, xjmusic.com
- Format: Each Drop combines audio, visuals, and narrative framing in a repeatable release format
Drop!
The centerpiece was Drops — a release framework on xjmusic.com where each entry combined engine-generated or engine-enabled music, visual identity and artwork, and contextual framing that explained what the listener was hearing and why it mattered. Dynamic music is hard to explain. Drops made it tangible, shareable, and repeatable.
Cross-platform distribution was deliberate: YouTube provided proof the system works through long-form demos; Instagram delivered aesthetic presence signaling a real brand; LinkedIn established technical legitimacy; X maintained real-time visibility into development; the website served as the canonical archive.
The content pipeline drew from engine-generated compositions, commissioned demo music, album-style artwork, and the brand’s established visual language. Each piece was edited into Drop format, paired with audio and visuals, given intentional framing, then adapted per platform.
Production Pipeline
Source material (engine output, commissioned music, artwork) enters a transformation layer that packages each release into the Drop format, then a distribution layer pushes adapted versions to each platform. The system is repeatable and scalable.
And some of the drops were outright mental.
