Read The Room on Instagram

Automated Social Content, 2026

@readtheroom.fyi is a working Instagram account with a strange property: nobody makes the posts. An automated pipeline writes them, illustrates them, and publishes them on schedule — and the experiment is whether that pipeline can carry a consumer brand’s voice well enough that you can’t tell.

The format it generates

Each post is an observational micro-scene — a small, recognizable moment where someone is misreading someone else. “At IKEA returns, they shift a heavy box and wait again.” “At a Sunday potluck, he hears his partner joke about their differences.” One illustrated scene, one line that names the ambiguity, and the brand’s standing invitation underneath: read the pattern before you write the text. The card format is deliberately quiet — serif type, muted palette, the wax-seal mark — because the product it points to sells composure, and the content has to model it.

What the machine does

The pipeline generates the scenario copy, art-directs the matching illustration, composes the card, and schedules the post — end to end, without a human writing or approving each one. The craft investment is all upstream: the voice rules, the scene grammar (a specific place, an overheard fragment, no villain), and the visual system were designed once, as constraints, and the automation runs inside them. It’s the same discipline as the studio’s scenario-authoring work: write the rules well enough and the generator can be trusted with the instances.

What’s being tested

Three questions, honestly held: whether generated content can sustain a voice this specific without drifting into the generic engagement-bait register it’s designed to reject; whether observational scenes out-earn direct product pitches; and what a channel costs to run when the marginal post costs approximately nothing. The account is young and the numbers are small — per the studio’s rule, they’ll be published when they’re real and mean something, not before. The artifact you can verify today is the feed itself: scroll it and judge whether you’d have guessed.
