It was genuinely magical shooting this music video in a graveyard with Juilliard dancers, outstanding choreography, and a mud-spattered erotic finale. And it begins exactly where the video for “Came Out of a Lady” ends.
Since it was a shoot day to remember, here’s the call sheet.
Location: a graveyard. Overcast, headstones, grass — perfect.
Talent: Juilliard dancers.
Choreography: outstanding.
Wardrobe, final look: mud. Head to toe.
Produced & directed for Rubblebucket by: Dave Cole and Yuan Liu.
Continuity note: first frame picks up on the last frame of “Came Out of a Lady.”
The trilogy logic matters: “Came Out of a Lady” (2010) birthed a cosmology — spandex bandshell, bodies into space. “Down in the Yards” carries it into the ground: a cemetery reclaimed as a dance floor, ending with two lovers caked in earth, kissing among the headstones. Birth, then dirt. The band’s horn-driven joy makes the juxtaposition land as celebration rather than gloom.
Presence over avoidance, per the manifesto — a music video that takes the season of death, walks straight into it with trained dancers, and finds the erotic pulse there. Discomfort followed by clarity. Also: mud.
Proof: watch it on YouTube — six figures of views on Rubblebucket’s official channel · Omega La La on Bandcamp.
