This mug is an homage to starting a business.

Sometimes a founder feels like the entire business is strapped to their body, and they must always be ready for action.

PRODUCT SPECIFICATION · READY FOR ACTION
Object: a coffee mug — present for every hour of the thing it commemorates.
Subject: a pigeon, in full kit.
Why a pigeon: the city's most stubborn working bird. Unglamorous, unkillable, and already here.
Load: everything, strapped on. Nothing left at base.
Readiness state: permanent. There is no other setting.
Design constraint: a mug wraps — no fixed edges, no guaranteed reading order, so every rotation has to hold.

The correct mascot for a small business is not an eagle

Business iconography defaults to predators and altitude: eagles, lions, rockets, summits. It is aspirational imagery for an experience that is almost entirely the opposite — a lot of standing in weather, carrying more than is reasonable, and being underestimated by people who have never tried it.

A pigeon is the honest version. It is the bird that actually lives where the work happens, that nobody admires, that shows up regardless, and that has been carrying messages for people since long before any of this had a name. Kit it out, strap the whole operation to it, and you have drawn the job rather than the brochure.

Putting it on a mug is the other half of the joke and the sincerer half. A mug is not a trophy you look at on a shelf once a quarter; it is an object in your hand at seven in the morning, every morning, while the thing it depicts is still unresolved. That is a very specific commission: the design has to be funny on day one and still bearable on day four hundred.

The studio’s own flag — Mental Roger, a skull opening its own head — arrived the following year and points in the same direction: defiance without triumphalism, aimed inward.

A real person made this — on purpose, per the manifesto; and we are sincere, which is the part that matters on an object this small. The pigeon is not ironic. Anyone who has carried a young company recognizes the posture immediately, and that recognition is the entire product.

Record: a self-directed object, never a catalog product — proof: [], no storefront to point at. The mug above is the whole of it.
