CredSpark is an assessment platform, so this page is an assessment. One question, scored honestly.
Q: What don’t you know?
That’s not a rhetorical device — it’s the founding insight. It’s a question that compels people to act, to discover, and to learn, and it’s from that insight that CredSpark was born in 2013: a New York platform where publishers and brands engage audiences through quizzes, assessments, and polls instead of banner ads. Present since the first round of drinks where founder Lev Kaye laid out the vision.
A. Choose everything that applies:
- ☑ The logo. Created the company logo — the mark that fronted the business from founding until its 2021 rebrand. Eight years is a good run for a startup’s first face.
- ☑ Brand fundamentals. Liaised with the founder on brand, information architecture, and industrial design — the whole surface a young company shows the world.
- ☑ Trade-show environments. The booth is a brand at room scale; designed those too, plus digital assets and merchandise.
- ☑ The platform itself. Lead Software Engineer, 2012–2019: MVP acceleration, the assessment engine, UI work that measurably lifted engagement and retention. The feature image above is the product surface that shipped — quizzes, scored assessments, personalized recommendations, analytics, and the raw API underneath.
Score: 4/4. Very few brand engagements include writing the production code for seven years. This one did — brand and build, one continuous act.
Lev Kaye’s own words: “Very few people’s skills run all the way from strategy/visualization to deep-down in the code. Charney can plug into your digital team, or be the team… his results will amaze you.”
Brand-and-build as one continuous act is the studio’s default rather than an exception — see the XJ music brand, drawn by the same hand that wrote the engine underneath it.
The manifesto calls small teams with sharp edges the source of the most original work — highly skilled, brutally honest, uninterested in consensus for its own sake. A founding-team-of-few startup is that principle under commercial pressure, held for the better part of a decade — and held by one person whose brand decisions and production code had to answer to each other every week.
