T-Shirt Design

A bold serif I. A red heart. And then — nothing.

I ______
(this space intentionally left blank)

Milton Glaser’s 1977 grammar — I ❤ NY — is the most-completed sentence in graphic design. Every city, band, breakfast food, and inside joke has filled that blank. This design deletes it. What remains is either the most minimal shirt joke possible (I love ___: you fill it in, per viewer, forever) or a complete and unqualified declaration: I love. Full stop. No object required.

A museum placard would say: composition withholds the beloved; the withholding is the work. A person wearing it would say less, which is the point.

The manifesto closes with three words — we are sincere — and this is sincerity’s shortest possible garment. No target, no irony to hide behind, no qualifier. Just the verb, worn in public. Look directly. Love anyway.
